Icons are NOT a 'new format'

There's absolutely no 'new format' - with the new small graphical icons the lobby and tables function exactly as before.
We know for a fact that when new players like former MSN people or Pogo players used to come to GameColony before, they were totally confused with our previous text-only lobby.
These players and other beginners needed a lot of breadcrumbs to find their way to the tables. A lot of these beginners were sufficiently confused and left right away.
As GameColony is build for growth, we could no longer tolerate the text-only boring lobby. We finally decided not to be afraid of some graphics & color. This site does not want to become the single text-only dinosaur on the web.
The new icons occupy the smallest possible screen space and are as tiny and as unobtrusive as humanly possible.
Some of the old-timers who got used to our previous text-only lobby were unhappy -- all changes are painful. Others called the icons 'cool' and useful for those that 'cant read'.
In any case, these icons are NOT for old-timers - they are for the newcomers. Old timers can easily ignore the tiny icons just as they can ignore anything that they are already familiar with...
Cheers, -webmaster

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
