--PURPOSE OF THE FORUM--

We were here a couple of years before we had our own forum. We had the use of a different forum but there were no decency rules in that forum so our webmasters being wise and keen, created our own personal forum for all games.
This forum was to be used as a tool for the benefit of all the players. IE: Suggestions about the game, good natured and CLEAN jokes/stories, friendly gestures such as 'Happy Birthday' greetings, announcements and yes even a bit of good-natured criticism is acceptable.
Lately there has been an issue that has created a string of posts that are pushing the limits to say the least. Most of the thread has been allowed to remain (with a bit of editing from time to time). However I think we have seen and read enough of this issue and respectfully request that all of our players agree to disagree on this subject and remain courteous and respectful in their posts.
I would like to sincerely thank you all for your careful consideration and cooperation for and with the terms and conditions to which we all agreed when we first registered to play our games at GameColony. Isn't one of the reasons we play here the fact that GC is a cut above the rest where consideration and courtesy is not only the custom but also the rule?

Actually, I disagree. Well, let me rephrase that. I agree that the forum hasn't been all rosey and peachie at times but what I disagree on is limiting the forum to anything BUT that. The forum the should be a place where any player could talk about anything they want. Limiting the use of inappropriate language and such I agree with. There is no place for that. But to censor what a player is thinking and wants to vent what's on their mind without offending anyone... I just don't agree. MAB, I understand 100% where you are going with this, and to some extent I agree with trying to get more postings as used in your example, but in fairness to every player on this site, the forum is one of the few, if not ONLY, place where one can share what's on their mind about the site and it's members.
Expressing/Venting will work...

I Think The Forum Is Working Well !

I agree that at times I have been guilty of trying to use the forum to goat/hustle certian players into games. I have done this because of my frustration in getting my point across about not wanting to play the better players for just 1 game. I realize now that I have to adjust and accept the fact that this format is entirely different than person to person, one on one hi$ gin games that I have played in the past. The idea of going into a place where there are multi-gin games being played for various amounts and players hopping from one table to another has been very hard for me to conform to. I AM SORRY IF I HAVE OFFENDED ANYONE! It was not my intention to offend, just win. I am thankful to MAB & GC for their feedback and willingness to accommodate this idea of players committing to a series of games. I think and hope this will aid and accommodate not just me but all interested hi-ticket players. I am well aware that there are many great gin players in GC that can and probably will beat me. As part of a hustling tactic in the past I have said that 'I am the best and can beat anyone'. Believe me - I'm neither that stupid nor conceited. I just want to take my chances and compete with other good players who can and will commit to a serious series of games. LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY! I AGREE WITH MAB - That this forum should not be used to offend or be negative about any of the players. I ALSO AGREE WITH YANKEE_BASEBALL - That the forum is THE place to vent and voice your opinions. After all no one is forced to read it - and I have found out that most don't. TY & GL

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
