Sets of Games

I played a 3 game must be won set against a player which was most enjoyable whether I won or lost and highly recommend that to anyone who gets stung by the hit and run players prevalent on this site.

so am i to understand this-it was the first person to win 3 games, not to be up by 3 games, and its the net $50 per game. ex. if i win 3 to 2, i win $50, if i win 3 to 1 i win$100. if that is the case id love to try it one time. please inform.

3 games AHEAD !!!

The Series-Match mentioned above was played for $50 per game - 250 10 L - until one of the players gained a 3 game advantage. In other words, 3 Games Ahead. It just so happens that JimmyJoe won 3 in a row or the match might have gone on much longer. The intention of these 'Series-Matches' is to insure against 'Hit&Run' Players AND to reach a more definitive skill level.
I think these 'Series-Matches are going to become very popular here @ GC and I want to address some concerns BEFORE it happens.
THERE IS NO WAY TO PREDICT HOW LONG A SERIES-MATCH WILL TAKE. THERE IS GOING TO BE MATCHES THAT GO ON & ON. SOMEBODY, SOMETIME IS GOING TO HAVE AN EMERGENCY THAT WILL CAUSE THEM TO SUSPEND PLAYING. I KNOW ALL CHAT & GAMES ARE MONITORED AND I WOULD HOPE THAT THERE IS A 'SUSPEND-PLAY' OPTION THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE - 'IF BOTH PLAYERS AGREE' AND A SPECIFIC TIME IS SET TO RESUME PLAY.

thank you for your clarification on the series-match rules. i have to admit i have a problem as you stated with the possibility of the endless possibility of games and hours of play it make take to reach that 3 game advantage. id be more interested where the money is put up lets say 3 games for $50 each, and play the games and when done, G/c pays it out. maybe theres other ways, but i know the idea of playing until a 3 game advantage, is time consuming, and really not practical. i like the different ideas tho, and id love it if some format as hollywood gin, could be incorparated. keep up the good work G/C, thats why you stand on top alone

I too believe that playing until one person is 3 games ahead could quite possibly (and probably should most of the time) take up to 3 or 4 hours. Why not just play a 3 game series and if it goes quickly and the 2 players agree, then they could repeat it.

It would be nice to have 'Hollywoods' as an enhanced piece of action. In addition, if you sign up to a 3 game series then, GC should give a 10% discount for the guaranteed volume of action.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
