Gin - Series - 1st GC Match

On Apr 20 GC hosted the First Gin Series Match between jimmyjoe and Zits (Zits is the player who proposed series matches originally). jimmyjoe won the match after winning 3 games in a row.
-------------------- Formal Rules for Gin Matches
Gin Match is a series of consecutive games that ends when one of the players gets a 3 game advantage. Details below.
If any player is interested in playing Gin Matches, please let us know - in this topic or via Contact Us.
The concept of Gin Matches is new to us, so feel free to comment regarding the rules below. Note: since we are not aware of the extent of the interest in Gin Matches, we cannot yet justify the expense of having a separate table option for such Matches.
(1) To play a Gin Match, at this point 2 players would need to 'talk it over' first & discuss the total sum (e.g., $500) and table options for single games (e.g., 200pt 10 L)
(2) Both players would need to inform us (via Contact Us) about the proposed timing and setup (above) of the match, after which we will collect the moneys upfront from both players.
(3) Players will play as many consecutive games, as it will take for 1 player to have a 3 game advantage
(4) Players will mark their tables for 1 $Ticket and other agreed-to settings (e.g., 200 pt 10 L) & play these games in the common Main room. As GameColony has full monitoring and recording, there'd be no need to tie up a TD.
(5) As one player gets a 3 game advantage, at the end of the match the moneys will be disributed minus commission by GC, after auditing all of the games of the match.

The Series-Match mentioned above was played for $50 per game - 250 10 L - until one of the players gained a 3 game advantage. In other words, 3 Games Ahead. It just so happens that JimmyJoe won 3 in a row or the match might have gone on much longer. The intention of these 'Series-Matches' is to insure against 'Hit&Run' Players AND to reach a more definitive skill level. I think these 'Series-Matches are going to become very popular here @ GC and I want to address some concerns BEFORE it happens. THERE IS NO WAY TO PREDICT HOW LONG A SERIES-MATCH WILL TAKE. THERE IS GOING TO BE MATCHES THAT GO ON & ON. SOMEBODY, SOMETIME IS GOING TO HAVE AN EMERGENCY THAT WILL CAUSE THEM TO SUSPEND PLAYING. I KNOW ALL CHAT & GAMES ARE MONITORED AND I WOULD HOPE THAT THERE IS A 'SUSPEND-PLAY' OPTION THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE - 'IF BOTH PLAYERS AGREE' AND A SPECIFIC TIME IS SET TO RESUME PLAY. TY & GL

First off, CONGRATS to JimmyJoe. Glad to hear you beat this guy. I tried to beat him based on his game request/suggestion, but he ducked out when I called his bluff. Glad he actually honored a challenge no matter what format it is in.
Second, and this is address to Game Colony, I have seen this format idea and it is a good concept, but what I havent seen is how much they will be taking out in commission. The fees are high enough as it is and I was hoping that it would be a more fair number compared to the regular 10-20% that you pay as a whole on your winnings in the main room. (I know it is really 5-10% per player but I am putting that number as the NET winnings the winning player gets at the end of a game which is what matters and what GC gets).
Third, I would like to set up a match between Zits/GinDr/BoJangles/Dudley/BigWuss(thats my favorite and right on!) just so I can take some $$$$$ from this guy. I will be available anytime after 8 0pm tonight 4/22. Please set it up for the same $50 that he lost to JimmyJoe (again, congrats and phenomenal job), and again just let me know the commission % beforehand. He can choose the format because it just makes no difference to me whatsoever. Thanks!

I am sad to hear of your joy in the defeat of Zits. 'We Are Very Close'! I would love nothing more than to participate in a 'Series-Match' with a superior player such as you. In checking my calendar, I have designated a time slot for your appointment with 'THE DOCTOR'. I will see to your needs on Monday, April 26 @ 11 0am (cst). We will play - 250 10 L for 100 tickets per game until one of us has a 3 game advantage. My time slots for Series-Matches are filling up fast and I will need you to respond (here) A.S.A.P. to confirm your appointment. If your concerned with the GC fees for this - get it straight before confirming your appointment OR try to find a better site to play Gin. I hardly think this will be a factor for you as only the winner pays the fees for total tickets won and the loser only pays on the $1 games won. I will have our table set up for $1 at the above-mentioned time and await your reply. IF, IF, IF you really show up and play - remember that all games & chats are going to be monitored - we both will play as gentlemen & professionals and if we play, I sincerely want to thank you (in advance) for the action. - TY & GL

Gimme a break. Can you please change your next name to the 'Energizer_Bunny' cause you just keep goin' and goin' and goin'. Thanks. I am glad though that you are more aware of which name you are under when you are posting here in the forum. That was a close one last time. As to your request to play at 11am cst, well that just doesnt work for me. I know you sit in front of the computer all day for work purposes, but my schedule does not allow for me to be available before 8pm est. I still want to understand how much GC will take from each game, for which again I requested $50, not $100, so I will await their reply here in the forum. If it takes us for example 51 games for one of us to get three ahead (27-24), and normally they would take $5 per game out in total for their commission, then one of us would pay 27 x $5 which equals $135 then it just isnt worth the time and investment. So, I want a clear explanation on how it all will work. Then we will finalized the time that is mutually convenient. Thanks.

As the last time we had an agreement to play - here comes the excuses. In your earlier posting you said 'He can choose the format because it just makes no difference to me whatsoever.' THAT IS A DIRECT COPY & PASTE QUOTE! The reason we didn't play before is because you didn't or couldn't understand that I was simply trying to QUALIFY your resources. I have no desire to play someone who can't afford to lose at least as much as I am. As far as the timing - I am available to play you from 8am till 7pm (cst), Monday thru Friday. The Doctor needs his rest and retires at 9pm nightly. I wouldn't want to start one of these Series-Matches after 2pm because I want to be fair and allow plenty of time. You keep mentioning the fees that GC is going to charge for this. IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THEIR (more than fair) FEES - DON'T PLAY! The fees only really affect the winner so that shouldn't be much concern of yours anyway. As I understand it - The GC fees are the same as if we played one game for 300 tickets with the exception of the per game fees for the $1 table we are using. I have never asked the price of anything I've wanted since I was 18 years old. If I didn't think the value was worth the cost, I simply didn't return or re-purchase. 'I DO HOPE WE GET A CHANCE TO PLAY - BUT IT AIN'T LOOKIN TO GOOD'! TY & GL
Commission schedule for match

Disregarding commission for multiple games in series that were played for $1, Games Commission for series match corresponds to the summary commission for just 3 games.
Per game commission can be from 4-5%% based on combined entry pot and 25-200 per game entry fee see schedule
EMERGENCIES

While playing one of these New Series-Matches - IF - a player has to discontinue playing for a very good reason he must get the oponent to agree and then agree on a specific time to 'Resume Play'. If not, then the entire match will be forfeited. Anyone professional and experienced enough to play for many tickets should also be considerate of any player who has an emergency or good reason to discontinue. After all - win or lose - It's only tickets and everyone has a life. BOTTOM LINE = Treat Any Oponent As You Would Like To Be Treated If The Situation Was Reversed ! TY & GL

You keep denying the multiple accounts which I'm sick and tired of hearing you defend. But ya know what, I'm done with that now b/c it's gotten the publicity and the acknowledgement it deserved along with your manipulating of your free record to draw in less savy players.
I'm sick and tired of your 'holier than thou' attitude about your gin playing when all you want to do is play terrible players and when you finally do step up to the plate... ONCE, you get beat in three straight games.
I'm sick and tired of you turning my acceptance of YOUR challenges under YOUR terms to make it look like I'm running. Don't SIZE me up... when you AGREE to a $200 game and I set up the table and you dont join, then YOU duck the game and YOU ran away. You wanna quote me, well how's this for a quote from your last post.. 'As the last time we had an agreement to play - here comes the excuses'... well, i think I answered that embarrassing accusation of yours in the beginning of this paragraph.
I'm sick and tired of your looooong useless posts especially when you try QUOTING ME. One thing you happen to be right about, I did say you can choose the FORMAT of the game AFTER my direct quote also said 'Please set it up for the same $50 that he lost to JimmyJoe (again, congrats and phenomenal job)'. The FORMAT genious is the setting of the game... you want 200 10 L, 200 okie L, 200 10, I dont care.... Thats the FORMAT, not the price which I specifically posted even after you had posted awhile back that YOU didnt care how much it was... 25, 50 100.
I'm sick and tired of you putting words in my mouth. WHEN DID I SAY I COULDNT AFFORD THE FEES HERE?? As a player and a SUPPORTER of this site, I have EVERY RIGHT to know the share/commission Game Colony will be taking out of my winnings before I start so I understand how much money will be in my pocket after your defeated.
All you had to do was simply keep your mouth cordial and polite like my great friend Ed[which by the way, thanks Ed for bumping our friendship to the next level, ] as well as doing the right thing in here and not taking advantage of others. So now, hopefully with the combination of my skill and the cards falling my way, I can play for all the guys and gals you've suckered and manipulated and just like JimmyJoe, at least give them back a little something, no matter how small it is.
I'm just sick and tired and look forward to this opportunity. You mentioned you were available at 7pm cst which I am assuming is 8pm est. That is perfect for me. Name the night next week and lets get it on so I dont have to waste anymore of my time being sick and tired of your antics any longer.
LOL... Menk I see your point

Subtle hints that Zits and GinDr ARE the same player... If you notice you can see similar grammer and use of CAPS and punctuation... but the biggest hint that gives it away is if you notice that both 'husband and wife' lol used the same 'TY & GL' send off in the posts just above. But you were right in your earlier posts that theres no reason for him to admit it b/c its a perfect alibi to continue doing what he's doing. So be it. I can see definitely understand frustation though seeing he keeps getting caught but wont admit it!!
On a side note, sorry I havent been as active in the forum but I had said my piece and I just saw that it grew a life of its own... all the way from a little FYI about what was going on from little ol' me I'm just happy I was able to make a difference.

This forum is intended for constructive and helpful communication between players and again you want to bring it down.(edited) If you want to play, play. I have stated my terms & conditions for playing a 'Series-Match' with you or anyone else, which is what the subject matter of this posting (by the webmaster) is about. As I stated, I will not start a series-match with anyone at 7pm (cst). I will not start any series-match after 4pm (cst). If you can afford to play under my terms, GREAT! I can tell that you only want to play me because of your strong emotions and that alone is a sign of a - 'type of player I'd like to play' - Nice way of saying 'A (edited). Why don't you play someone else a 'series-match' that wants to play your way & conditions? I am not the ONLY 'SERIES-MATCH' Player on this site. Maybe get together with Yankee_Baseball, aka Arubahhh and play (edited). Why are you few players sooo worried about my Name changes. A lot of players now are changing names as allowed by GC. As far as the multiple accounts are concerned, please rest assured that ALL chat and statements are monitored by GC and IF I was doing ANYTHING wrong or against their rules, they would have put a stop to it way before now. I have tried to explain before about this unusual household/office in which there is 7 computers and multiple players of GC. Please read the rules about accounts. You will find that every account HAS to have separate email addresses, financial accounts, and photo ID's. Do you really think you can do a better job of running a gaming site than GC? THEN GO DO IT! Everything I am doing is in accordance with their rules and regulations. (Period) NOW LETS START CHATING ABOUT GIN, SERIES-MATCHES AND HOW TO BETTER ENJOY THIS GAMING EXPERIENCE WE ALL ARE LUCKY ENOUGH TO BE A PART OF. TY & GL

I have to tell you that I really ENJOY reading your posts and how you stick up to this guy. Your 'I'm sick and tired' posts were very clever and ingenious, summed up a lot, and were just great replies to GinDr's previous posts about you. A lot of us share the same sentiments about him, but just realize that he'll always try to have an answer for everything and even a stellar reply as the one you had will get some type of response from him, even if it is empty and meaningless.
Also, he keeps reiterating about the seven people and computers in the house/office. Guys, that is most definitely true. But what everyone is failing to realize is that the way he is legitimately doing things accoring to GC's rules and regulations, is he has signed up the other accounts using the other people's names and IDs etc and just playing under those names. No one is doubting it is him under the diff names just as you shouldnt doubt that each account has a different person registered under it, THEY just arent playing, he is. Very simple.
Keep up the good work.

OK - LETS PUT THIS TO REST - 'THE SOLUTION'!
Posted by
(VIP) 24 Apr 2004 1:01pm
As Mrs. 'Big Bad Guy' You all are referring to, I think I have come up with an undisputable solution that may finally put your bleeding hearts to rest. I play many games here at GC and am offended by your accusations that he is using my ID to play himself. While we (all family) have learned to play from the 'Big Bad Guy', we use our own $ and play almost as well, Thank You. THE SOLUTION: Get your heads together and come up with 3 players who want to play a 'series-Match' with us. ALL THREE 'SERIES-MATCHES' WILL BE PLAYED AT THE SAME TIME!!!! None of us will play anything but 200/250; 10 L and it will have to be at about 7pm (cst). For the reason of timing, I suggest that these matches will be 2 OUT OF 3 - OR, 3 OUT OF 5. Not the usual 3 AHEAD. IF THIS DOESEN'T OR WON'T CONVENCE YOU THEN I DON'T KNOW WHAT COULD! He is trying to use this forum for its intended purpose of exchanging constructive ides between players. You jealous players who just keep wanting to bring this forum down for the purpose of your own vendettas are really only cheating yourselves in the long run. GC has already acknowledged their appreciation for what he is trying to do with these 'Series-Matches' and has said they MAY make it an option that everyone can enjoy. Where we (me & him) disagree is about which is more feasible - 3 AHEAD - vs. - 3 OUT OF 5. He says 'More cream comes to the top with 3 AHEAD' & I say, 'Who cares if no one is going to play anyway because of the time commitment'. Now can someone PLEASE comment on their preferences about either one & start using this forum for its intended purpose? As far as setting up the simultaneous series-match - just use 'contact us' on the main page AFTER you have put your heads together. MAB can contact us or this forum can be used to agree on $ & time. We would prefer that none of the three opponents are 'Sponsored-Players'. All I will say is that we do have a way to tell who is & who isn't. I suspect you all know whom I am referring to. We wager our own tickets, so Please wager your own. TY & GL From The Original 'Mrs. G8rbate'

After conferring we have decided the best time for this 3-way series-match would be Tuesday or Wednesday at or about 7pm (cst). 2 out of 3, 200 10 L for at least $10 per game will work for all of us also. Of course the Dr. would like to play for more, but I have convinced him that this to prove a point and not a normal game. Let us know & TY & GL
The Definitive Statement

This is addressed to my dear friends: GinDr Menk Yankee Thinkorswim Get-Fuzzy
That's right, I consider all good friends and I appreciate being able to interject my two-cents without being partial to either side; and the good Mrs. Dr. Thank you Menk, I do appreciate your comments and for that reson I've decided to get involved.
This argument (?) has two sides and both are positive in my humble opinion. The good Dr., I know who he really is, has taken a huge amount of criticism trying to promote a 'different' style of play. Granted, he's been abrassive but he did get what he wants and now GC is offering an additional and logical format for us to play. I happen to disagree with the +3 format the Dr. recommends because of the potential time problems but the multi-match format is probably the closest we'll get to the good old Hollywood Gin we all grew up with.
It's interesting to note that GinDr never once mentioned he was a better player than anyone else in GC. It seems to be everyone else's assumption that he must think he's better by the nature of his postings. He is a good player but so are the rest of you. Any match between you would be great. The issue is money and the amount you're willing to play for and that's the sum and substance of this entire matter.
Menk, Yankee and Think....sounds like a law firm....you are all formidable players but the GinDr. has managed to get you all riled up and possibly in the position he needs you to be for him to be successful.
Kudos to all of you and I sincerely wish the very best to all my new-found friends. 'Get-Fuzzy', the newest addition to this dicsussion, has offered an acceptible format that all of you should jump into. I know if any of you invite me to be part of your team I would accept without question.
Net, net, the Dr and his family are now open for your gin-playing pleasure. Take them up on their offer.
One more thing, thanks GinDr for getting GC to open a new format. I'm certain it will ultimatley prove beneficial to all of us and also open the door to yet other great formats.
The issue of tempers should now be history. Get on with the games.
Thanks for all indulging me and good luck to you all. See you on the site.

Ed, my friend. There is no 'riled up' in me at all hun! The only thing I was just kind of upset about in the beginning was how GinDr which I guess is what the name is now just tries to play and take advantage of weaker players by altering his free games record on purpose and that bothers me as a true person. He got all caught up in a non existant issue of name changes which was never even an issue, just a distraction to the true topic, of seeing the same person under different accounts, not names. But ya know what, we can go on and on about what is true and what is deceptive till we're 'Blue' (sorry ed) in the face. I personally don't trust him as a player here in Game Colony and surely don't respect what he does. With that said, and b/c this was never about who was a better player which I am sure he may even be, I really have no desire to even be in the same gin room with person such as him. My original post was only an FYI to all players who may not have known better and fortunately and/or unfortunately it really took off. His idea for series matches sounds good and I would be more than willing to play ANYONE that would like to play me, but sadly I cannot allow myself to play such a person, or I would be sacrificing my integrity, for the players in here, and for the game of Gin as a whole. I am sorry it had to come to this, but I will not let a bad seed spoil the bunch!! Anyone looking to play and try a series match, please let me know! Looking forward to playing almost all of ya!

Thanks for your reply.
You are 100% on target. You've selected the option we all have, 'Don't play him.'
The original intetion of your posting is the same as my posting on 'Rude Players,' it was informational and that's a fine point to make. But now's the time to get on with our joint passion and that's playing gin.
You're a fine opponent and a great competitor. I don't care if its Arunah or Yankee Baseball. I enjoy matches against either.
Thanks for your input.

Play gin-rummy tournaments online
At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
