Nope, this isn't what you thought it would be and maybe it is.

I had a great experience the other day I'd like to share with you. A mid 1,400 Rating player challenged me to a match. This was a 1/2 tix match and I played. To my surprise, this could have been one of the best matches I've had in a long time and, if you know me, you know I've had many great matches. I told him we'd play 2/3 before we started and he argeed.

He charged through me like Grant took Richmond in the first match; I had to smile. HIs judgement was great and his execution was excellant. I won the next two matches but that's neither here nor there. I congratulated him on an exceptionally well played match and he stated, 'look at my rating. Why did you bother playing?'

I smiled but felt a bit ashamed of myself. I play all takers and I even like to play non-tix matches for the challenge, not for the rating. There are a slew of great players in the 'Black', no tix, category that can give you a wonderful match and beat you. Yes fans, they are good and you know the names.

Take the time to play the lower rated players for two reasons. The first is that they may be formidable opponents and the second is that they can't get a better rating without playing a higher rated player.

I often hear players pleading for a match. Give them a break, the same break others gave to you when you started.

The other side of the coin is, I suggest you keep a list of the rude players and 'Just say no.' They'll catch on and start to act like human beings again once they know they're being ignored.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
