Just recently, I made a trip from Boynton Beach, Florida, to Port Chester, New York. When I arrived at my home in New York I wanted to notify all my dear friends and decided to do it with a bit of a twist.
This is a contest, with a winner to be announced. The object is to guess the time it took me to make the trip. The closest person to the actual time will be given a prize of my chosing and will receive the notoriety they will duly deserve.
The trip is 'door to door', 'portal to portal', 'mi casa a mi casa'. The time includes all stops for gas, restrooms and walking the doggie and cassual purchases; light snacks.
Please post your calculations/guesses in this Forum. ( Topic -- from webmaster)
I will accumulate the results and post the winning name next Monday, May 10 at this time.
Good luck and great forecasting

Twenty-one people guessed at the answer. The total trip was 1,245 miles and took us 16 hours and 24 minutes door to door. The weather was bad and that must have kept the state's police in the shadows. Two construction sites and 2 extra stops for fuel in South Carolina where no gas stations were open at 4AM; that was a close one. Guesses ranged from 27 hours to 19 hours and one, a dear friend of mine, guessed within 1/2 hour of the actual time. His guess was 15 hours, 51 minutes and 29 seconds. He's a scientist and he calculated the variables. He was the only person guessing under 19 hours. He also knows I'm a bit crazy.
He won two prizes; a signed picture of me and a free dinner at the restaurant of his choice. Luckily he lives inthe New York area. Yep, I would have travelled to the winning location to be at the winning dinner. Lucky it wasn't California, Arkansas Pennsylvania etc.
Thanks for enjoying this fun with me....
Oh yes, wait till the trip back to Florida in the fall

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
