A Cool Tourney

Played Decko51 in a series tourny yesterday and it was pretty cool. It really prevents people from hit and runs and basically comes out to be the same as far as playing 3-5 games.

Will do it again!

Earlier today Bevo & Eagle played 8 games for 40 ticks a game each. They played for well over 2 hours. They both won 4 games apiece. They both came up $16 short. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY THEY BOTH WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER OFF IF THEY WOULD HAVE PLAYED A 200 TICKET 'SERIES-MATCH'. ONE OF THEM WOULD HAVE BEEN WON $180 & IN MUCH LESS TIME. THINK, THINK

Show-Me, you left me bit cold with your statement. I agree, one of the players would have won 180 Tix but one of them would have lost 200 Tix rather than 16 tix. This is the anamoly of WTA play.

Please don't get me wrong since I thoroughly support all playing formats and I believe there is a great spot for series play in GC. I also thank the proponent, could be you, for hanging in so long to get the SERIES mathces going.

My problem is the use of your terminology, specifically the word 'THINK'. There is a possibility that other think as profoundly as you. Did you ever consider the fact that both players were equally matched and a one game difference, in 9, could be the dreaded 'LUCK'?

You see, if you think about it, a pre-determined number of games makes more sense if you think you're the better player. The alternative is to just play and enjoy the games as they fall and not be as concerned about the fees as you seem to be.

Oh yes, the option is fully up to the players and that's the best thing.....Think about it.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
