Hi everyone. After reading the postings on money/no money players...(and please know that i appreciate this wonderful game site, and am very grateful to those of you who pay the bills)...i am wondering if i should even be participating in this Forum, since i will never be a money player. I'll take the chance and talk anyway. I had a really unpleasant experience in here the other evening; something really terrible happened to a friend, and after realizing there was nothing any of us could do about it, i escaped to the comfort of GC. I said hello to my first opponent, who didn't respond. Didn't matter, my mind was just into playing for therapy. This person just beat the livin pants off me in about two seconds. I didnt say my usual 'gg,' 'thx for playing,' 'cu later,' or any of my normal comments; I left the table and went to another, not thinking about it since the person had never even said hello. This person sent me a message which said, 'Cant stand to lose, huh?' I was playing a game with someone else and didn't respond. He continued to harangue me, and his next comment was 'What a poor sport.' I began getting upset, but didn't know what to do. THEN he said, 'Next time i'll just let you win.' I dissolved into tears, and when my game was finished, i exited into the night. First off, we are not mind-readers here, and cannot know the basis for someone's seeming rudeness. (In my case, my mind was on a personal tragedy.) The person didn't know me, or he would never have considered me a poor sport.
The good part is: this incident will help me to be less critical of people i assume are rude and thoughtless. The bad part is, he really really upset me.
Somewhere in here i read one time that it's possible to copy the chat you receive...but i can't find the message that referred to that, and i couldnt figure out how to do it. Anyway, i suppose it wouldnt have done any good to just copy what he said and pass it on to anyone else; and i've never liked tattling. But just for future reference, if there is a way to copy the messages that someone sends you, could someone please tell me how? Thanks for any help, and of course thanks for the good games. xxx yoyo

I must take this opportunity to extend my sincerest appologies to you for the player and/or players that did these things to you. I've had the pleasure of playing you several times and every time I've found you to be sincere and friendly. It's unfortunate that some of the players believe this site is their way of 'owning' everyone they beat and that is sad.
My main point is that this type of behavior is not and should not be tolerated in GC. I know you're too good a person to tell us who the culprit is but you should tell this, with all the ugly details, to the owners of GC using 'CONTACT US'.
None of us deserve this and, again, I appologize for the slime that did this to you. You see, some of us are nice people and we alos know how to fight back.

First I'd like to extend my sympathy for whatever personal tragedy you had. Whatever it was I know how those things affect our demeanor at times and it's very understandable that after not being responded to you just went on to your next game.
I hope you will continue to find comfort in GameColony and enjoy your games. Whoever this person was I hope he/she reads this forum and knows the unhappiness they caused. I agree with Ed...anytime you run into a situation where someone is haranguing you, send a contact us so they can keep an eye out for future similar behavior.
And by the way we're always happy to get your postings ...not necessary to be a money player at all. We enjoy your views always. Keep it up!!
Sorry for your friend's troubles

Sometimes people take any perceived little slight and blow it way out of proportion, forgetting that other people have REAL problems. Sometimes a good cry is the best medicine.
On the copying of chat, you just right click in the chat area and a box comes up saying 'copy' and you select that. Then a new box comes up with all the chat in it and you select the parts you want to copy with your mouse, then (important) use Ctrl+C to copy whatever you've selected onto the clipboard.
Hope this helps. calc_guy

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
