To make certain that all the players fed up with the gibberish about ratings and bragging rights, I've posted this message in 2 places. In the Menk message and as a new thread. I'm truky sorry if you read both messages but one of them must be read. *********************************************** Here goes:
Okay guys, the answer to this endless thread is obvious. There are two groups of players that don't share the same views.
Let's get a tourney going with two sides; the non-cash players with wonderful ratings versus the cash-players with lower ratings.
Specify the number of players on each team, let's say five, and set the game to either Regular or Okie at 200 points.
Since both side are rather confident of their ability they should also be confident of the players in their group. This is the key. How about $25 a player, or anything else. The play will either be rated or unrated although rated is prefered. This will be a winner takes all match in much the same manner as we used to play with gin-teams. The money isn't significant so a nominal investment should be made to make the games more interesting. The issue is WHO WILL WIN.
Whichever teams wins will settle this dispute virtually eliminating the 'luck-factor' over 5 matches or more if you like. The more matches the more appropriate the bragging right will be.
I'm certain GC would love this format since it will be quick and profitable. Maybe we can get a discounted rate but that, again. is not important.
I voluteer to be the TD or a player on the 'bad-guys' side if they'll have me. Remember, I play more than most people but I'm certain all the players I've done battle with know when they play me they have played a well fought match. That includes those players in the rarified air over 2,000 that have played against me.
What do you say guys???? Let's settle this thing once and for all.
One more issue, the entry fees involved are to cover the costs of tracking the results and it also puts all players on equal footings.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
