In latest update: better politeness ... by design

This update touched $Ticket and Ladder games only.

The goal of this update was to counteract the impoliteness of those 'bad sports' who make their opponents wait (with multiple
reconnections, etc.) when their games are 'almost' lost

Instead of constantly taking administrative measures against such impolite
players, we have introduced a system that upon a player's disconnection evaluates the chances to win.
If chances to win for a disconnected player are less than 15%, then his/her opponent should not have to wait for the full reconnection time(s) to expire. Instead, the win will be awarded upon a single move expiration time.

Thank You

Yeaaaaaaaaa! Now that's fair. That should save us all many long boring think-youre-gonna-die-waiting sessions. Thank you, webmaster.

THIS MAY PUT SOME STINKERS OUT OF BUSINESS. GOOD RIDENCE - TO BAD RUBBISH!
THE BEST PART IS - THEY KNOW WHO THEY ARE!

Nice move, but ...

... WHY only for ticket and Ladder games? I'd think this'd be a welcome change for all games!

Only $Ticket and Ladder games are affected because...

Here are the 2 reasons why only $Ticket and Ladder games are affected -- (1) Technical Reason & (2) Non-Technical Reason:

(1) Technical Reason [whoever gets confused, skip to reason (2)]
This change pertains to all games. In some games (backgammon, chess, etc.) external game state analysis program is applied to accurately evaluate the state of the interrupted game. This, in turn, requires time, resources and accurate synchronization if there are several such interrupted games at any point in time.

(2) Non-Technical Reason
GameColony earns commission on $Ticket games. Top 10 Ladder winners each month receive Ticket prizes and also potentially contribute to $Ticket games.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
