I have recently run across a few players who must think that it's cute to hit the abort button after losing a game or are behind by alot. I guess they are hoping that the winner hits the accept button by mistake. I can only say..be careful when you play these players

I'm sorry for being your sole respondent but thgis is an issue I must address.

Many months ago I did a very stupid thing. I meant it as a joke but it became a major problem. A great player, a good friend now, was beating me badly. I knew there was no way in God's green earth I could even come close to him. As a JOKE, I hit abort and fully expected him to deny my request. He acepted it and really became irritated. I pleaded with him to consider the real motivation for the move and offered to pay him the tix he was entitled to. He is a gentleman and he refused.

God bless GC. I corresponded with them and explained my errors. I insisted that he get the tix, from my account, aand also a forwarded appology from me. They did just that and the issue blew away.

The moral of this story is that one man's joke is another man's folly. If your opponents are doing this for the reason you stated you should get their names to CONTACT US as soon as possible. This action, as I found out, is reprehensible and should not even be done in jest.

Oh yeah, you don't have to accept the ABORT.

i played a person that i was beating 110/0. 125 reg gin game. they started to slow down and then asked me if i could abort the game. at first i said no and then i asked what the problem was... my computer is messing up was the reply. so i aborted like an idiot. i closed out the table and fully expected the person to leave the room. but they had started another game with another person... lol. i recently had the opportunity to play them again but when they sat down i ban them.. they asked if i was that scared to play them. i said no way i just dont like your playing tactics. if you need the 2 bucks or whatever it was that bad you should have never played.

I'm ashamed that sort of thing happens on a site like GC. I suggest you document that situation and report it to CONTACT US to insure it's not a recurring thing.

I guess when you play as often as we do we're bound to run into almost anything. I also had a similar experience with a player that asked to abort to tend to her children. I agreed and als saw her playing in the MAIN.

I guess we're all suckers every once and a while but so be it. As a very wise person said to me just the other day, 'set an example by doing it the right way.' I wish I could believe that.

Being a TD I have an obligation to do things right and maintain a courtious front at all times.

Sometimes it's real hard.

Your problems are all to common I think. As tough as it sounds I think you should show no mercy during these games. This isn't charity, your playing for real money.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
