Series Match?

I am still not sure how the 'Series Matches ' work. But to make sure no one thinks i am unsociable, I would be glad to play anybody in a 'best-of-five' series match to at least 150 pts and for at least 150 tix each. In my mind, when either player reaches 3 wins, the match is over.
How do these matches get scored and payoff accomplished?

Although if it is regular gin, it has to be to 200 pts. min.

Formal Rules for Gin Match Series.

Hi Wanna.. hope this helps.

Formal Rules for Gin Matches

A Gin 'Match' is a series of consecutive games that ends when one of the players gets a 3 game advantage. Details below.

If any player is interested in playing Gin Matches, please let us know - in this topic or via Contact Us.

The concept of Gin Matches is new to us, so feel free to comment regarding the rules below. Note: since we are not aware of the extent of the interest in Gin Matches, we cannot yet justify the expense of having a separate table option for such Matches.

(1) To play a Gin Match, at this point 2 players would need to 'talk it over' first & discuss the total sum (e.g., $500) and table options for single games (e.g., 200pt 10 L)

(2) Both players would need to inform us (via Contact Us) about the proposed timing and setup (above) of the match, after which we will collect the moneys upfront from both players.

(3) Players will play as many consecutive games, as it will take for 1 player to have a 3 game advantage

(4) Players will mark their tables for 1 $Ticket and other agreed-to settings (e.g., 200 pt 10 L) & play these games in the common Main room. As GameColony has full monitoring and recording, there'd be no need to tie up a TD.

(5) As one player gets a 3 game advantage, at the end of the match the moneys will be disributed minus commission by GC, after auditing all of the games of the match.

Thanks, I don't believe I am interested because I am not sure how to commit that much time, the matches could (and should) go on forever between good players. I would rather play best out of 3 or best out of 5.

Different Types Of Series-Matches

Wanna - You are correct. The original concept for Series-Match play was for it to be an 'AHEAD' format. However because of the objestions you mentioned, ALL of the previous Matches to date have been 'RACE TO' Matches. The 'AHEAD' format is still the preferred way to determine the BEST player for that given day but until this 'Series-Match' concept catches on (and GC can justify a dedicated link), the best way is to play a 'RACE TO' either 3, 4 or 5 for however many tickets the players agree on. I think it is a waste of everyones time & effort to play for less than 200 tickets.
There are still issues to be worked out by the players & GC for this to be successful, but I think it will & can be a great addition to an already GREAT Gaming site. There are current issues to deal with concerning what is to happen when & if a player has an real emergency that dictates POSTPONING (not quiting) a current Series-Match, but everything has to start somewhere and I think the future of 'Series-Match' play - Looks Bright!

FYI - 'Best Out Of' AND 'Race To' -
ARE THE SAME THING!

A 'Series-Match' Is A Commitment!

One of the most important components of a Series-Match is that Both players are making a commitment to not only for the tickets involved but also to COMPLETE the match. There HAS to be understanding and allowances for unforeseen circumstances that can & may arise. Emergencies, power failures, etc., etc. But in these instances there HAS to be rules & guidelines set forth to assure that - Once a Series-Match starts, It MUST be completed. IF, (because of a true emergency), it has to be postponed, 'SO BE IT'. But this should not nullify the match; just postpone it until both players agree on a reasonable time to continue.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
