Hi Ramp,
If there's a question or dispute about any individual game, the best place to post it would be Contact Us
Secondly, you were posting in forum while still in playing room -- probably not a good idea. When you hit enter (thinking you were posting), at that very same moment someone's invitation came up and you ended up on that table. You probably hit Enter key again and (since Start button was in focus) the game started.
To avoid these unwanted side-effects with using the Enter key on the keyboard, it's a better idea to use the mouse here for selection -- you will never end up doing what you do not expect.
Cheers, -webmaster

You can't discard the card you've taken from the discard pile because if you do that you've effectively not played a turn. The game is in the same position as it was before you moved; thus you have to wait one play before discarding it back.
Consider this, you opponent discards that q of clubs. You pick it and then discard it. If that was allowed, what's stopping your opponent from then doing the same thing?

The last comment (or at least the last one I read,) makes no sense at all, If my opponent wants to pick up a card I discard and throw it back to me, I will be happy to let them do that ALL DAY!! The real issue is should you be able to discard a card you 'click or take' by mistake or by a change of mind immediately (on that same play) , and the answer is Yes.

The answer is not 'yes' for the simple reason its against the rules of gin for the reasons i gave.
You'd let them do that all day long? All day, preciously how long the game would last since then the both of you could sit there and pass the same discard back and forth.
Would be great if that was allowed when you have to make a tough choice of a discard.
Good Question.....

I also believe the answer is yes. My reason is similar to the one already given and something that has happened to me a few too many times. Yup, picking up a card by mistake.
As in one on one gin, this is not forbidden or any rule that I know of. On the other hand, you should be allowed to xorrect you mistakes without breaking up your entire hand.
My answer is yes.

played at many different golf clubs and that rule is consistent at every one of them.
morale of the story is don't take the card if you don't like your remaining discards.

Wow, I've been playing gin for a hundred years and I never knew throwing a drawn card, after you just pick it up, was a 'RULE'.
I do know I've done it when making a mistake and trying o recover as quick as I can. Especially if its your opponent's dis-card; its safe to throw.
Guess I just learned something again....

You've obviously been playing along time and in many different forums. Everywhere I've played that move has not been permitted.
Think about it. I discard a card, you pick it up and re-discard it. Okay, I pick it up and throw it back again. You do the same. And on and on and on.
Also, knowing its a safe discard by those means is exactly why hasn't been permitted in the grill rooms I've played.
In live games that you play in (cash ones, not friendly ones) and your opponent discards face down and says gin. Then realizes he/she doesn't have gin, how are you proceeding? Or tries to knock over the count?
Cheers.
Ed, I take back everything I ever said aboutcha

If you play as well as you do after 100 years, you do all right for your age!

FJC....Given the scenario of your opponent throwing a down card and realizing its not a gin or they're over the knock card has happened to me. The way we played it was to continue the game dispite knowing your opponent's hand. It was their mistake and they must play through the end. No forgive me's. The re-throw of a card was only used sparingly when a mistake was made; I think. That means your point is well taken. It could be used as a stall for you to draw a knock or a gin card and should not be allowed.....
Calc_, you didn't know I've played for 100 years. More amazing is the fact that I started at age 10.....

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
