HOW IN THE WORLD!!!!!

Can someone please explain to me how a player who is ranked #9 beats a player ranked #55 and then becomes the #1 ranked player. This is impossible according to the rules yet it has just happened. These are the kinds of things that make the rankings seem funny if you know what I mean.

Sure, someone can explain it to you

Every month, on the first of the month, GC resets the top spots of the ladder. It looks like they move spots 11-20 into 1-10 but I could be wrong. Hope this explanation suffices.

Your's is one of the best postings to the FORUM in quite a while but it's easy to explain. As you know, I'm not the biggest proponent of the LADDER and I actually enjoy watching the incredible swings.

The reason why the #9 ranked player became #1 is the same as me being ranked #3. At the end of the month the top players are reversed, or something like that. #10 becomes #1 or #19 becomes #1. This is the concept of the LADDER suppoprted so vigorously by one of the very best TDs. It's the climb to the top that's fun, not being on top....This is not in quotes because its probably not a good quote.

My last posting, 'DON'T WALK UNDER THE LADDER', was intended to make jest of the system that shoots you from nowhere to the top and vice-versa. It's the way the LADDER is structured. It's not important enough to cost you any sleep. If the LADDER prizes were larger, that would be an entirley different thing but they aren't.

I really did enjoy your posting. You said more than I was able to say in 26 replies last month

Ladder is Dynamic...

There are several mechanisms in the Ladder that make it as dynamic & democratic as possible :

- As soon as monthly prizes to Top Ten are disbursed at the end of each month, each of Top Ten players is dropped by 10 ladder spots. In other words, the top of the Ladder is renewed each month.

- Any of the Top Twenty players can formally challenge any of the other Top Twenty player. To avoid auto-penalty, the challenged player has play the challenge within 7 days. There is a place for negotiations between players.
The challenged player gets to select the table options.

- To avoid penalties for inactivity, each of the Top Ten players has to play someone directly below once every week.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
