Thank you for hosting canasta tournaments okaylady. It has been fun and a great learning experience. I just learned canasta when GC started the ladder here in October and still have a lot to learn but its fun. There are not enough tix players yet to have heavily attended tournaments but I suggest establishing a set time each day so people look for the tournaments when they can attend. Also they should not conflict with the more popular or heavily attended tournaments of gin, backgammon or crib. Thus, it might be wise, depending upon your schedule, to stick to the game times that have had some success, such as the 3 pm and 11 pm tournaments EST. if they are always on people can look for them and attend when they can/ To hit and miss with anytime tourneys will hit and miss with the players and be lucky to get enough to run since no one knows when to look for them. I also suggest 3-6 tix to get more participation for now and not go too high until the crowd warrants it. Alternate between the S/E and D/E tourneys as well. S/E should be a minimum of 3500 pts to get some playing time in and the D/E can be whatever you think.

Thank You and continued progress.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
