It is understandable, if you are looking at someone squarely in the eye and you proceed to ask them a direct question and they don't acknowledge or respond, for you to take that as an insult. However, in this room, just because I have opened a game up does not mean i am watching all messages in the general room. I do not mean to offend anyone, and I enjoy playing gin, and I quite often play in the tournaments regardless of ticket amount. But my computer is also my workplace and play place, I am usually off in cyber world and I respond to the bell if someone enters my room. I have had people get upset with me because they are asking me questions in the general room which i usually don't monitor. So if i have offended anyone take this as an apology, and please if you want to play me for a different amount than I have out there, either come in the game and ask me or create a table for the lower amount and invite me. I enjoy playing and meeting all the gin players on Game Colony and I always promise to only mutter'under my breath'. lol

You don't have to appologize for your rudeness, we all know your rude.
Just kidding of course. You are one of the good ones and over the years I've never seen anything other than great play from you. You just happen to be one of the few that uses his/er computer for business and that's just a fact of life.
There is one other player, as a matter of fact, more than one who keeps tables open for a possible game. The problem with one of them, not you, is that he/she will never play me. I've been trying to get a game with her for other a year.
It's wild how some players pick and choose. I guess they're right. My aim is to always play over my own level to improve my game. Sounds weird but it's the truth.
It's funny, not always, that you get a reputation of being a smart --- when that's 180 degrees from reality.
Whatever pleases you should and has to work for all of us.

I guess that is like trolling for the right fish. My philosphy is that I open the game and invite people to play, I have never refused to hit the start button.

Wannabunch,
You've never been anything but nice to me, in victory or defeat. That is something I wish you could rub off on me, lol. I always enjoy our games, no matter the outcome, and look forward to more games in the future. If only everyone could have your attitude, it would be so much nicer.
And Ed, I agree about picking and choosing. It may be their right, but then they shouldn't have an open table. They should make it 'invitation only'. just my humble opinion.

I have a tendency to agree with both of you. I've been trying to get in a match with someone that always has an open table but she won't accept my invite. That's her choice.
I know its a hastle seeing that open table all the time but I do have a suggestion, mark that table 'AWAY'. This way the person with the table can pick and choose and anyone trying to join that can't get a game won't be insulted.
What I do is to join the table, wait a few seconds and if I don't get a response I say 'KK' and 'BYE'.
I know at least two people that use their computers for work and I really can't see any harm in leaving a table open. On the other hand, I assume an open table is an invitation for a match.
Guess you can't have it both ways.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
