$1,000 Super Tourney
Posted by webmaster 22 Sep 2005 4:35pm

$1,000 Super Tourney Requirement/Rules

The schedules relate to qualifiers - qualifying tourneys for the $1,000 Super Tourney.

1. There will be no PAYOUTS during qualifiers. Only the winner [1st place] of the qualifiers shall be granted a FREE seat to the $1,000 (minimum in prizes) Super Tourney.

2. For a Super Tourney, GC will guarantee payout as follows: 500+250+125+125 (4 places).

3. There must be a minimum of 5 players for each qualifying tourney to go forth.

A winner will be awarded a seat in the Super Tourney with no entry fee.

4. There will be 3 levels of playing for qualifying (25, 50,100). Players must play in each level. If a player won a qualifying seat then this player is not required to play all 3 levels.

5. Players who have played (but not won) in all 3 qualifiers will be able to use the 'buy-in' for the Super Tourney finals for 100. They do not need to win a qualifier.

6. Players who have been unable to play in all 3 levels of play will be able to buy-in the finals for the Super Tourney for 200.

7. Good Luck Everyone and Have Fun!!!

Say there are 10 players for the 10/3 game. What happens to the 250 tix?

Payout?

Is the payout larger based on lots of players? It seems like the payout should be X% of total action, otherwise why would anyone play? Also, 250 points in a regular gin game is a death march.

Final Payouts - Dynamic
Posted by webmaster 22 Sep 2005 8:47pm

-- Final Payouts will be dynamic with 1,000 guaranteed minimum amount in prizes. Payouts will grow with more players

-- We'll change the format to 200 OKI LD

type of game

I wasn't trying to imply that the game needed to be changed , just that in regular gin maybe 175 points is the equivalent of playing Oklahome to 250 points.

I assume these times are eastern standard time. Is that correct?

Win and advance

So..if you win one of the qualifiers you will advance directly to the Super Tourney.

just for clarification... if you win one of the qualifiers and you advance, then why would someone play the $100 game when they can try and advance in the $25 or even $50 game? Questions like this make me feel like I'm missing something here.

answer.......

For you and those unfamiliar with live tourney formats such as this.. It is required that all players in the final Super tourney get their seat in one of the following manners..
1. They have won one of the qualifiers
2. They have played in all three levels
25,50 and 100.
3. They 'buy-in' for a seat in the Super $1000. guaranteed

Winners of any qualifier will advance immediately and their seat is FREE. They are not required to play any additional qualifier.

Those who are NON winners but who play in all three levels will pay $100. for their seat in the Super Tournament.

Those who are NON winners and who have also NOT played in all three levels to qualify for a seat will pay $200. for their seat in the final tournament. The more who play, the bigger this Super will pay as $1000 is only the guaranteed prize. I hope this helps for a better understanding.

it does...

I hate to have to spell it out in laymen's terms but please just confirm this explanation:
It makes sense to try and first qualify playing in the $25 games versus the $50 or even $100. I mean, it would be kind of crazy for someone to sign up for the $100 one to try and qualify when they have 4 shots to do so at LESS of a risk (2-$25 and 2-$50) opportunities, right?

Only way I would justify being in the $100 game is if time didnt permit you to play in the other ones or if you HAD to b/c of the rule where you need to play in all three if you want to put in only $100 if you lose and still want to buy in.

Otherwise, wouldnt it be smart to try at the $25 games followed by the $50 games etc etc? I am only trying to simplify this and treat it like I'm a third grader here. Play the $25 b/c you get the same result if you win that one as you would the $100 game. Please confirm.

Yes

Yes.. IF you win a qualifier you advance.
But if you do not WIN one of those then to play in the final tourney you must have played in all three levels or pay a double entry fee.
Hope this clears it up for you.

Yes it does make sense to play in the loweer priced qualifiers to gain a seat in the finals.

The purpose of playing the 3 levels if you don't, only makes it equally fair for all players. As you noted there is a buy-in at the end for players who still wish to play the final. But to make it fair for everyone there are 2 different buy-ins. 1 at a reduced rate for those who have attempted all 3 levels, and a higher priced one for those who wish to skip the levels and just play the finals.

Question

Why is there no $25 Okie round??

THANK YOU

NOW, EVEN AN IDIOT LIKE ME UNDERSTANDS.

The reason...

Okay, you all knew I just couldn't not join in the FORUM for too long.

The $25 qualifier could be jammed; thus your chances of winning could be lower because of number of players. Remember only one winner.

The $50 qualifier will have fewer people but still attract the $25 players for a shot at the $1,000.
The $100 games will eliminate a bunch of players but some will say, 'I've already invested up to $150 ($25 x2 plus $50 x2) so I may as well go for the $100.

I'm willing to bet that a good number of the experienced players go for the buy-in at $200. This is just my opinion but the downside is no more or less than winning any of the qualifiers. This way you know you get a seat at the final table.

Let's see; 6 qualifiers plus buy-ins. Not bad odds at all.

Does this make sense to anyone other than me?

Just a thought

Players who apparently haven't read the answers are being directed back to this thread so will bring it to the top of the list.

Good explanations here and needs referred to.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
