The MIA time is 10 minutes per round and it's cumulative. That is to say if the player loses connection more than one time during the round the minutes are added together, and if 10 minutes is reached the opponent is advanced.
Hope this helps.

Reconnection In the case of a temporary internet disconnection or browser-related problems [such as with old Windows 95, 98 systems and Windows 98-based Windows ME], GameColony provides you with the capability to reconnect without penalty to the same game. Reconnection without penalty has its limits -- your opponent will only wait for up to 5 minutes for you to reconnect. To reconnect, re-establish your Internet connection (you may have to close/re-open your browser, re-dial your ISP, etc.).
While each reconnection may take at most 5 min, a maximum of 10 minutes total reconnection time is now allowed per game A maximum of 7 reconnections is allowed per game A typical message on (1st) reconnection: Reconnection completed. 6 reconnections left. Time remaining for reconnections 9 min. 1 sec.

It just seems an excessive amount of time. I have no doubt there may be reasons/factors that I am unaware of that went into the decision to extend time to 10 minutes. I have often wondered, though, why not give all players the option to agree to a shorter wait time at the beginning of the tourney? That way, if you knew you were prone to disconnects you may opt not to participate. Perhaps, participation in tourneys would increase if players knew the chances of delays were lessened.
hope this helps.....

I just want to reassure you all that, although disconnects and MIAs DO happen in tourneys, I have to say it is less than half the time....usually tourneys go off without a hitch, and it seems very rare that the whole 10 minutes is EVER used for reconnects. There are occasions, however, where someone tries to reconnect, to no avail, and ends up having to restart their whole computer, etc....this does take some time, especially with slower internet connections. So 10 minutes is reasonable to me, when situations like that arise. Seems like the longest waits for MIA have come in waiting for players to arrive at the start of the tourney. More and more, we as TDs have had to 'out' players that aren't present at start time, to avoid this type of delay.....it has really helped prevent delays in my tournaments! But in general, the whole 10 min aren't usually used....just there as a 'just in case'....hope that helps! Maybe we'll see u at tourney time!!!!!!

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!.
According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!). The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
