why won't java on mac OS 10.3.9 work??!!!

i have been tolerating the not so perfect but functioning java application in classic mac OS (9.1) to play gin at GC for a good long while - i'm able to play games but can't create tables or abort a game or if i accidentally hit resign instead of knock - i have to force quit and restart IE... annoying... but i get to play gin!

i recently splurged on a very overdue upgrade to panther (OS 10.3.9) and was so excited to use all of the gaming functions at GC that i've been deprived of for so long... only to discover that Safari, IE 5.2 and Firefox each had their own unique approach to NOT FUNCTIONING!

Safari: able to load applet and create table & perform basic functions but once the game starts... total distortion of actions, slow, slow, slow functions - no way can i play a game with this browser...

Explorer 5.2: had me all excited - no distortion, a little slow but not bad - and then... nothing. happens. ever. i made my first move and the curser spins like it's working on something... and spins... and spins... and.... keeps on spinning til i force the application to quit.

Firefox: this browser didn't even make it to the main room - no players came up or anything... the applet loads but then i get a message where it would normally say 'connected' that says 'session expired' instead.

i have searched forums and articles and support sites and on and on for an answer to my plight but though the subject is very popular and i found many interesting tidbits and such, no solution seems to exist.

is there anyone who uses OS X successfully on GC? if you're out there - please share the secret!

On a Mac, 10.3.9 works with Internet Explorer but it needs its own brand of Java.

A fool-proof solution on any Mac that is speedy enough -- Virtual PC. This way, all Mac's Java idiosyncrasies and incompatibilities will go away.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
