I never really thought I would write in this forum...but my aggravation has led me to it...first of all...the rudeness of so many people just amazes me...how very simple in this crazy world of ours is it to say hi...if you dont want to wish someone gl..fine...but hi is just a very small formality that does no harm...second...as I am number 2...i just find it so funny that number one and three will only play me...non-ladder games...afrad? who cares..it is gin...my God..I am just so amused at the behavior of players...the insecurity of players...I ...which I think most can testify to...play anyone...if you're number one or number 3338...I just dont get it...I am a gin player...I think of myself as a fairly good one..so..if you are up to par, then play...play fairly...number one today......number 150 tomorrow...just show me what you got...dont play your little games of hide and seek...sorry to babble on...but it does get to one.

I am #3 and ALWAYS set a ladder table. Number 1 is not setting the ladder button.

I think every game should be a ladder game.

Don't include me in your statement. I don't think I've ever refused a game with you and I know that you always accept my games.

I agree all games should be ladder games. And I am also getting frustrated at not getting a game with some of the top rankers, seemingly because I have a black name again.... Gimme a break here guys and girls, im still good for a game.....

What do you mean by black name? I know that you are in London and most of us are in the US. Maybe the time difference is the reason. I'm usually only on after 60 CST unless I'm bored at work.

I dont get it!!!!!!!!

I think he means that he is not a money player right now (blue). I hope that i didnt offend you Prine...I did invite you twice the day I wrote and obviously it was an oversight. You played two other people and I am sure it was not intentional. Sorry about that and I look forward to playing you soon.

me neither

I don't understand why every game played for tix is not a ladder game!! I would love to see where I am on the ladder, but I never remember to check that box. Plus if I could be lucky enough to climb in the ladder, I would always be willing to play anyone(albeit there would be a slight tariff involved, lol)

Ladder, just like Tickets is a choice

If a $Ticket player is interested in playing for $Tickets, this would be a non-default option -- it will need to be specifically selected and agreed to.

Same with the 'Ladder' option & many other options.

If your interest in Ladder is strong enough, you'll remember setting that 'Ladder' option. It will, then, be displayed on the table and in lobby's table listings.

It seems that when certain players achieve the top positions, they only set up games without the ladder button checked and will only play a ladder game via the ladder challenge. There have been a number of instances when a top player would not SET the ladder button. Another players favorite excuse was 'there are 100 other players in the main hall that want to play.' or why do we have to play every day?
The other great one was that the top player 'forgot' to set the ladder button and then disappears.

It seems to me that if every game was a ladder game this could not happen. Also if people didn't care about the ladder standing it wouldn't make any difference if it was a ladder game or not.

How to make top players play Ladder
Posted by webmaster 11 Nov 2005 10:01pm

There's a way to make top players play Ladder -- Formal Ladder Challenges.

To use this method, however, a player making a challenge needs to get to be in Top Twenty first.

A very similar thing with top players happen in many games & outside Ladder with ratings -- most of the players with high ratings would prefer not to play those with lower ratings until the lower rated folks 'grow up' first.

i agree!

I also get done over by the time difference, I will leave and be in the top twenty, by the time I get back online the next night all the highly ranked players have played and I have lost about 50 spots on the ladder! Also disadvantaged by the 'must play top twenty within 6 days' rules, means I have to be on in the late evening/early morning to find a top twenty player! damn international date line LOL
(i'm Aussie by the way!)

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
