Won ..... Tickets

Does anyone find it a little frustrating when they show the amount of tickets won on the gin home page? It always say Player A won let's say 57.5 tickets when the truth is they really only won 27.5 tickets. Why they include YOUR entry fee is beyond me. I understand that once you enter the the mini tourny its not your $$ anymore and technically you win the pot, but c'mon, we all know we judge what we won as the amount of the game less their commissions. I know it's not a big deal, just been bothering me for a while and wanted to see if ayone else felt the same way.

Net Winnings and Winnings

If someone buys a few (or a lot of) lottery Tickets and gets to be lucky enough to win the Big Prize... it would be quite natural for that someone to describe his/her winnings in terms of that Big Prize.
Conversely, it would be quite unnatural (or even jocular) for that someone to describe his/her winnings as:
'NetWinnings' = 'BigPrize' - 'CostOfTickets'

Winnings for the players are a bit different from 'Net Winnings' -- that would be the accountants' domain.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
