slow play

I have played people much slower than myself, I'm here for the enjoyment of the game while I'm playing I'm smoking my cigs and having a beer, if you want to rush me like they rush people on the golf course (and we are always ahead of the people behind us there) your taking the fun out of the game because I don't play to make stupid mistakes. Maybe I'm just not as smart or as quick as the other players, if you think that's the case maybe I don't belong here.

I've played you often as you know and have always found you to be a very polite, friendly opponent. I'm probably more tolerant than others with slow play because I have problems at times with my dial up connection. But when my play is held up it's with freezing or lag.

I have to admit it's much more fun for most of us to have the game move along at a decent pace, especially in a tournament. I always feel bad the times I'm holding things up with a disconnect or freeze. In Main when you're playing one on one it's between you and one other, but in tourney it's different and others are waiting on you to finish.

You're an excellent player Dave, and have proven you can speed up your game and still win. How about humoring us and play faster in tourneys anyhow...save the slow play for Main.

Happy Ginning....

Slow play spoils the momentum of the game - that is why I only play at table where it is set for 1 min. between plays. Some of us only have enough time for one or two games, so we need it to move at a normal pace. I dont know you David, but I suspect some people play slow purposely so the opponent will get so annoyed they end up forfeited the game, and is is unfair. I absolutely do not believe this is the case with you - just explaining another point of view.

I really can't believe that it has taken this long for someone to finally step up to the plate and tell you that you are playing way too slow Dave. There is slow play and then there is Dave's slow play. No one is questioning your skill as a player but no one wants to sit around and wait endlessly for a tournament to move on because now we find out you like to smoke and drink beer while your playing gin. The last time I checked I could still walk and chew gum, so I guess you should be able to drink and smoke and play gin. There are many of us out here who get frustrated at slow play but Dave, you take it to the extreme. The 5 minute per move rule is not to be interpreted literally. I have seen you play a 1 hour game in a tourney and just shook my head. I cringe when I am trying to play in back to backs and you are in the first one. Everyone has their quirks and I guess yours is slow play(since I can't seem to beat you) but as others have said Dave, give everyone a break and speed it up. You'll enjoy the game more and I know we all will too.

At GameColony.com you can play games of skill only -- play for free or play for $prizes!. According to the statutes of most states in the United States, gambling is defined as: "risking something of value upon the outcome of a contest of chance". (Also see No Gambling!).   The skill (as opposed to chance) is predominant in games of skill. Playing games of skill for $prizes, therefore, has nothing to do with gambling as it is not a contest of chance -- the more skillful player will win far more often. The chance element of a 'gamble' is either insignificant or missing. When players compete in tournaments or games of skill for $prizes -- it is "competitive entertainment" rather then "gambling". The more skilled winner will always win more matches, tournaments and $prizes.
