Pet Stories Posted by lardy100 (VIP) Jun 22 2007 8:51PM Does anyone have a special pet story they would like to share? It was very touching having read what birddog and peg wrote about their beloved family members. Thanks lardy100 !! Posted by PEGASUS (moderator) Jun 23 2007 7:41PM Very good idea Barb..how about you starting. I bet you've had a pet or two? :) pets Posted by carloin Jul 8 2007 4:19AM they enter your life and heart and destroy both when they pass away...you think you could never go through it again, but, we all do and a new friend is made...........and the circle continues! Our capacity to love Posted by lardy100 (VIP) Jul 8 2007 9:45PM Carloin, that is because we have such an enormous capacity to love an animal that otherwise probably would survive a horrible existance. What we get in return is something that stays with us all of our lives. When that pet passes on, the sadness of losing a family member pains us and we swear we will never go through that again. Then suddenly, another precious creature enters our lives needing a home and someone who will love them. And so the cycle begins again. Yes, every memory is precious and for every animal that comes into our lives, there is one less roaming the streets aimlessly in search of someone to love them. The first dog I brought home Posted by lardy100 (VIP) Jul 8 2007 10:01PM We lived in a little town in Massachusetts and I was oh, maybe 6 years old back in 1961. I remember walking around the neighborhood and I saw this really big 3 legged dog in the street. (Keep in mind what "really big" means to a 6 year old. He was as tall as me.) I had no fear of animals, and in no time, he and I became friends. He and I walked home, and I had my arm draped over his neck cuz we were pals! I asked Mommy if we could keep him and don't remember much after that except that we did find his real home and his family was happy. |
