LADDER CLIMBING STRATEGIES

I have noticed that there is a drop off in players who play multi-player tournaments once the new month kicks in. Can I just say that it is a great time to push your way back into the top 20 and start picking off those VIPs who landed in the top 10 by default? Sometimes, though not always, those are disinterested ladder players who don't truly njoy the "game-within-the-game" that ladder climbers love! I use the tool of ladder challenging them as soon as possible and it works quite effectively. Do you have strategies that you use and would be willing to share? I njoy the thrill of competitive backgammon and playing the ladder at the same time just enhances that excitement!
