need a knew opening Posted by pawn-crusher (VIP) Dec 23 2005 4:18AM The opening i am doing at the moment is'nt paying off for me,so there for when i approach the middle game i am usally in a bad position therefore i was wondering if they knew a good opening solution to this problem.I have been playing chess for a long time on gamecolony as you proberly know so if anyone know's a useful i would be grateful if you would repley.

Repley as soon as possible i would be grateful.

THANK YOU!!!
What openings are your best? Posted by MrAleman Dec 23 2005 8:43AM Of course openings are fundemental to the success of any chess player. The best openings are the openings which will result in good play and a chance of a win. Sticking to openings such as the queens gambit or something as simple as E4 will give you chances. Unusual chess openings may enhance your tactical play. Following the opening book sometimes leads to positions which your opponenent may understand better than you do. Just play as you feel suits your game best

good luck Maybe you dont need a 'new' opening... Posted by CrazyInsane Dec 23 2005 10:24PM ...maybe you just need to learn more about the one(s) you are using. You are obviously using the opening wrong if you are in bad position in the middle game... New opening Posted by Jiggles Dec 24 2005 4:19AM PAWNCRUSHER, YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO QUICK FIX FOR YOU. YOUR PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IN THE MIDDLE GAME RATHER THAN THE OPENING.THIS IS ALWAYS A PROBLEM FOR MOST PLAYERS.MOST LOWER GRADE PLAYERS CAN LEARN MOST OPENINGS PARROT FASHION..THE PROBLEM BEING, THEY DONT KNOW WHY THEY HAVE PLAYED THE MOVES OR WHAT ARE THE STRENGTHS OF THE POSITION. GOOD PLAYERS LOOK AT THE BOARD DIFFERENTLY TO OTHER PLAYERS..THE ONLY WAY I CAN DESCRIBE IT IS IN DIMENSIONS. ONE TWO AND THREE DIMENSIONS..THREE BEING TOP PLAYERS..YOU SHOULD GET YOUR COMBINATIVE POWERS IMPROVED IF YOU ARE TO SEE ANY DRAMATIC CHANGE IN YOUR PLAY..AS FOR OPENINGS, I WOULD SUGGEST CLOSED OPENINGS. D4 AS WHITE..TO CUT DOWN ON THEORY AS BLACK I SUGGEST C6 IN REPLY TO E4 OR D4 (CARO KANN)IMPROVEMENT IS HARD WORK!!! Your just saying your good. Posted by pawn-crusher (VIP) Dec 24 2005 9:14AM What you are are saying is that lower grade player unlike yourself cant improve, your just patronizing and saying how good you actually are.Even people your rating (2150+)make the same mistakes some time. All you have been saying here is negitive comments, but thank you for your view.

GOOD LUCK IN THE FUTURE. If you dont want help, Why ask? Posted by CrazyInsane Dec 24 2005 4:02PM Nothing he said is negative. All he is saying is that learning a few moves a new opening will do nothing for your game, unless you understand the moves you are making. If im not mistaken, pawn-crusher, you have a rating over 2100. Do you honestly think your that strong of a player because you got good at 1 opening? I hope not. You probably became that strong because of your middle and end game. If you really really want to learn more openings and the meanings behind the moves you are making why not invest in a 'Chessmaster.' It will do wonders to your game, opening, middle, and end.

And next time when you ask for help dont complain when its given to you.

Thanx 4 move checkmate Posted by wwallygatorr Dec 25 2005 8:56PM A simple open is the four move checkmate: Kings pawn two spaces followed by queen three spaces and bishop five spaces and then the KILL. If the move is blocked, just PUSH. The masters out there will tell you dont move the queen out so fast, but for us regular players its an OK open lol Posted by MrAleman (VIP) Dec 26 2005 10:40AM I dont think anyone is going to fall for that checkmate unless they are completely **** at chess :0) However.... Posted by CrazyInsane Dec 26 2005 5:21PM ...If you know how to protect your queen with that opening you are capable of doing alot of damage very quickly. But it is more common to lose with that opening than win with it so i would suggest not using it.

Mr. Aleman...not everyone is rated 2350+. To you... if someone is not rated over 2100+ they completley **** at chess. How To Create Tournaments? Posted by pawn-crusher (VIP) Dec 27 2005 7:45AM I was wondering if anyone knew hoe to create tournaments because i have been wanting to register for some time; This is really annoying me because i want to play tournaments to try and win a few prizes, so if anyone knows please can you reply THANK YOU? Tournaments Posted by Spider Dec 27 2005 9:40AM Only TD's can create tourneys for any game. Currently we aren't running any in chess due to the lack of interest in participation. If you know of at least 4 players that would play, please let me know and we'll see what we can do. Have a great day and good luck in your games.

Spider- Well It's True Posted by pawn-crusher (VIP) Dec 27 2005 7:37AM There are not many people rated at 2350+,so be grateful for the people who are that high because there arn't many 2350 player on gamecolony because its extremely hard to approach that rating. So repect those who are that rating I respect what your rating just because so is'nt 2350+ that does not neccessarily meanthat they are****. I agree and respect both of your throughts mr aleman and crazyinsane. Of course Posted by MrAleman (VIP) Dec 27 2005 9:50AM There are more than 4 players at least.

mr_aleman, pawncrusher, mr international and _pitbull_ Four move checkmate Posted by wwallygatorr Dec 27 2005 8:08PM Well, the four move checkmate is a start. Trade pieces, develope a good middle and end game, and who knows, sometimes even the mighty fall. If nothing else you might force BLACK out of position a little. Middle Game wins the Game! Posted by FritzBlitz Dec 28 2005 3:10PM Mr Aleman and Jiggles make valid points about openings, however, the End Game will be won during the Middle Game phase. Keep your pieces well back - especially flank pawns - and let your knights do the fighting. Practice openings with strong knight positions.
